 Water supply hose
I was thinking about using a garden hose for a supply line instead of clear tubing. This should help prevent any bacteria from growing since light wont be able to get to it.
Any thoughts???

 Re: Water supply hose
Theory sounds good...dont know about the rubber properties or chems leaching into the water over time...

 Re: Water supply hose
Depending on the composition of the hose the leaching of toxins is possible. You would need to find a hose marked "For Potable Water", RV places carry then but they are generally expensive.

I use a hose to feed my kold-sterile, but clear poly out of it. Done this for several years with no issues.

 Re: Water supply hose
Walmart has the white rv hose for potable water not too expensive last time I looked.Regular garden hose often has mildewcides and I have read of a few tank die offs online after a refill with a garden hose. Some do use garden hoses and report no trouble.

 Re: Water supply hose
This is what I was thinking of getting. Only $23
5/8" x 50' Drinking Water Safe Hose Drinking Water Safe Made from medical grade vinyl Eco-Logical Lead Safe Hose Kid & Pet friendly with appropriate adult supervison Hose Diameter 5/8 In. Ply Number 3.0 Length (Feet) 50.0 Hose Material Vinyl Reinforcement Material Used Yes Type of Couplings Metal Warranty 5 years Hose Duty Rating Medium Hose Fitting Size 5/8 In. Then I'll add an attachment similar to this, but I'll probably add a handle to it.

 Re: Water supply hose
I bought a cheap 50 foot garden hose to empty my tanks with a sump pump but I fill them with the python. Both can be going at the same time. That being said I would NEVER buy it again. It always kinks & drives me nuts. Make sure what you buy WON'T KINK !!!!!!!!! Have fun !!!!!!!!!!!
