Re: Show off your fire fish/Dragons Blood peacocks
A lot of store bought peacocks are juiced up with hormones. I had sold a bunch of ruby red peacocks that were from Asia . Most of them lost there color. Some that looked like males turned out to be females once the hormones wore off.

Re: Show off your fire fish/Dragons Blood peacocks
I bought this fish from Stage3-s4 a few weeks ago: He spawned today with 2 of my dragon blood female shown in this pic: The females came from Dykemyster. Lets see if the females hold on to these eggs! Got 3 more holding and about to spit. These were crossed with an orange marmalade firefish.

Jack, I know you dont know. When you use the term marmalade it refers to a OB male AKA Marmalade cat

Re: Show off your fire fish/Dragons Blood peacocks
Actually, it refers to the term applied to the fish I got at Animal Kingdom. That is what they called it. Same base color as orange marmalade. Looked like a firefish to me, but thanks for the info!

Re: Show off your fire fish/Dragons Blood peacocks
A lot of people just make up names to make the fish sound appealing. It is not a valid name or morph of a orange male. The deeper you get into african cichlids you will know the term stands for a OB male. The lable cound have bin for another fish in the tank or it could have been mislabled, or a old lable on the tank.

Re: Show off your fire fish/Dragons Blood peacocks
Another term that now has a new meaning is OB. OB originally stood for orange blotched. In particular it referred to pseudotropheus zebras (now metriaclima zebra) that had an orange blotched pattern. Today OB refers to any fish with a blotched or mottled pattern regardless of the color and not necessarily zebras. There are now OB zebras, OB peacocks (hybrid cross between an OB zebra and an aulonocara), OB afras, OB trewavasae, OB fulleborni, etc. .

Re: Show off your fire fish/Dragons Blood peacocks
1st female spit today. Interesting looking fry. Most are light with a few dark spots. A couple are pure black. I have a couple of other females holding. Should be interesting. badflash wrote: I bought this fish from Stage3-s4 a few weeks ago: He spawned today with 2 of my dragon blood female shown in this pic: The females came from Dykemyster. Re: Show off your fire fish/Dragons Blood peacocks
I got 2 fish from Stage3-s4 a while back. One was supposedly a brown female, the other was the blue-head in the picture. The blue head's body is now getting to be much more red, but it turns out the "female" was a juvenile male and is starting to color up nicely. No pics yet, he's really shy.
