Post Re: Frontosa Bloat Remedy.....

The procedure illustrated in the video is not being performed on a fish with " Bloat " but rather a fish with " Float ". This is a condition that is not uncommon in Frontosa. The cause is still a bit of a mystery, some feel it's due to Frontosa being a deep water fish does not have the ability to discharge excess air that may be swallowed from surface feeding others feel it is stress induced as " Bloat " is, in wild caught fish it is sometimes attributed to a damaged swim bladder caused by improper decompression.
Although the procedure appeared to be successful it is certainly quite risky in my opinion.

I tried this on an angelfish that has been floating for a few weeks.I got most of the gas out but the fish is still slightly more than neutrally buoyant.May have to put it down.
