Hi.. .
Im starting my first tank up and decided to go for cichlids because they look stunning.
Im hoping to just gain some knowledge on maintenance, stocking, etc from everyones experiences.
The tank is currently cycling.. and its taking forever!!!
I'll post some pics up soon, I know I'll need help with the aquascape for cichlids.
The one piece I want to keep is the coliseum in the tank. What can i say, i love italy...!

Well, when you have pics, please post them. Also, take a look around the photo gallery and see what looks nice.
When you have an idea of what you might want to mix, from a color or look perspective, open a new thread and provide a list of the desired fish, and pics of the tank and I'm sure you'll get lots of great ideas.

Vinman told me to come here. I've seen gomezadams as well in CF before also. So I know at least 2 faces here which is a good thing. Going to have to take some time to navigate around here. Thanks for the tip Vinny.

Re: How did you get here?
Hey Everyone, new to the forum. Found it looking for local fish groups on google i believe. I've kept New world cichlids in the past. But now with a big move coming in a few months I plan on setting up a South American tank filled with mostly dwarfs. My plan is to make my own background, stand, and canopy. Ive been looking at this site and others on to which type of filtrationto use, as i have only experience with power HOB filters. Im leaning toward a HOB and Cannister combo. Looking forward to using the great rescources on this forum. Talk to you soon.
Casey

Re: How did you get here?
Welcome Casey....One of our moderators is from your area. You can't go wrong with the filter combo IMO, start a new thread with the details on the tank you plan on setting up and will try to help you with a few suggestions.

Re: How did you get here?
Welcome Casey
Are you going to use live plants in your SA tank? They would really love it. If you go with pressurized CO2 you will want to steer away from HOB filters and stick to canisters to avoid stripping out your CO2 by the turbulence of the HOB.
