Post Bobbing

My male Kabogoo appears to have gotten ill. Yesterday I noticed it bobbing in the tank and then takes a break sitting in the substrate. I have seen this before and it rarely had a good ending. Any suggestions? I think it may have been a result of dried krill i added to their diet in the past week. Thanks in advance.

Does it appear that he is gasping for air?

CC I never heard of this before but it sounds like maybe a swim bladder problem or maybe some trapped food.

Try netting him and looking down his throat.

Try adding some salt to the tank, it can't hurt.

Well i am convinced it is a swim bladder disorder and it is not caused by constipation. Metro hasn't worked yet.... things are looking bleak..now he is on his side half the time.

IMHO, "Bobbing" is a sign of air in the swim bladder. You see that at times in wild caught frontosa that weren't decompressed properly. I have also seen it in fish that are stressed. However, laying on his side at the bottom of the tank has never been part of the equation, so you might have more than one thing going on. IMO, Epsom salts is the treatment of choice for 'bobbers' and has always worked well. However, it sounds like you're pretty far into the struggle, so it may be difficult. good luck.
